The Hunger Games

Ever since Harry Potter, I've never been so obsessed about a book series... until now!

I wasn't there before the hype of the movie, so I just casually let it pass until a friend gave me the book series. I put off reading it because of hectic school work. And oh boy, I'm glad to have read it now.

Welcome to the Hunger Games!

Obsession over this is really beyond the limit now. I registered myself in the official Hunger Games website, gotten an ID card (with a ridiculous picture, I might add), followed them on twitter, surfed through the actors' websites, searched for peoples' costume interpretations and just generally been going crazy (stalker mode, haha!) over anything Hunger Games.

Anyway, it's about a 16-year old girl who comes to fight in what they call the Hunger Games in the North America area (which they call Panem). Actually, the Hunger Games is where all the 12 districts (which are like the states) have two representatives each and they kill off each other for the entertainment of anyone who's entertained of such things (which is really just one district-ish place called the Capitol, where the heads of the country and most affluent families are in) until there's one left.

Well, I think it's interesting and I also feel that this book series is easier to read. Maybe because it's American and I know the American-style English more than the British? Maybe because I was young when I read the Harry Potter series that the words were still difficult for me? Anyway, I found this easier to read.

And fast! I spent only a day per book. I had to force myself to stop when I needed to go for a bathroom break or eat because I really like the story and it was intense especially when it gets to the latter part.

Just now I found out that they're selling Mockingjay pins like the ones in the book (and earrings!) and I can't stop trying to look for it over the Internet and checking if it's available near me. I only ever did this with Harry Potter merchandise so Wooh! It feels nice to be in geek mode again. Haha!

May the odds be ever in your favor!

Put a Ring On It

14 of them!

I'm currently doing inventory of my accessories (because I've been wearing the same set over and over). It makes me lazy to go through the hidden ones so I'm going to display them and just choose for everyday. Hopefully by the end of the week they won't be a mess on my vanity table.

Pink and Silver

From the Wannabe Perfumed Syrup Nails Collection of Annika Wester x Etude House. I didn't follow the design the polishes was for, I kinda like it better like this. The polishes were really just toppers so I added 1 coat of solid pink and silver color underneath the 2-coat glitters to make it look more solid.

And an updated (fail-crop) photo of my nail stuff!

This morning I drank Ohayo Coffee from the CSB vending machine (which I stared at every time we had a break from the exam haha! How come there's no vending machine in LS?!)

Then more coffee afterwards...

Watermelon Nails!

Super random out of the blue because-i-dont-have-nail-polish-on-project

That last finger has white (which was an old nail polish so it kind of had a whip cream consistency) but it's ruined so I didn't bother putting it on the other nails

The super straight french tip was, for the first time, not done by scotch tape. Haha! I was actually able to use the french tip guides I bought from Etude House. One thing though, when it's left too long on the nail before pulling it out, there's some sticker residue.

Pianists and typing

I've always wondered if pianists were better typers than those like me who work with computers all the time. I mean, they memorize long pieces and play it without flaw. Can they translate that for, let's say, typing a paragraph?

I guess some stuff to point out are:
1. Both hands work fast
(and even faster for pianists playing 16th notes, I guess)
2. Both press in more than one level
(I mean, black keys are placed higher than white and letters on a keyboard are separated into three levels)
3. Pianists go a long way left and right while typers just... stay put
3. Both press memorized (?) pieces
(and that's a question mark because I dunno if typing what I want to say is the same as typing what was memorized)

Ooookay. I should go back to work now. Haha.

P.s. Is a wallet called a wallet because it's like creating a 'wall' around your money? j/k

Haggard Commute

Too many crazy things happened on my way to school, (that place where we meet before going to the party place):

1. MRT = No electricity

I don't know why the electricity in the MRT was out when the surrounding area had it. No choice but to ride the bus.

2. Broken shoes

My shoes broke (AGAIN. I think it likes to break itself on special occassions.) while I was riding a bus to the LRT. The bus didn't even give a warning that it went past the station so I had to walk back. On that walk I lost the underside of my left shoe. Just brilliant. So I asked those in the LRT station if I could borrow someone's slipper (Pakapalan na talaga ng muhka). There was just one guard who had slippers and thank goodness for that, or else I wouldn't be able to cross the road and buy shoes.

New shoes on my feet and off I go to Gox. I rode a pedicab because my shoes were wet enough as it is. Too bad because...

3. ID falling of Pedicab in the middle of the road

Yeah. And it was almost run over by a bus. Good thing that was the only thing that fell when my bag tumbled over in the Pedicab.

Thankfully it's nothing serious and I got to school safe (albeit wet haha). I really enjoyed the children's party today (especially the CAKE!). Woohoo! Happy Birthday Obra!

Failed thesis. Failed calculus.
Headaches and neck pains.
Can't play the violin.
Bloody injury from new shoes.
Three maths for next term.

OMG what is there to live for?

Flowers and Peppers

Yeah, that's my breakfast 'cause we freakin' ran out of cereal. :((

Anyway, my mom took me out today so that I can be her yaya when she grocery shops. Thankfully she's determined to get at least something from the department store and that's why I got to buy new accessories and these lovely boat shoes. Thanks momma!

Then we went to Pepper Lunch. My first time to eat there so it was fascinating to have this huge ass hot plate brought to the table. It was fun mixing the food too.

And my boring outfit wouldn't be complete without this pretty flower. I thank you whoever bought me this that I've finally been able to wear it after so long. (Ever since kinder pa ata haha)

Also, I got inspired by this blogger's 30-day challenge that I think I'll do it myself. Hopefully it's okay. Although instead of having just 30 pieces of clothing (I don't think I have that much), Imma do it with just 30 pieces of anything: Clothes, shoes, accessories and bags. I might go crazy. More on that later.

All in all, it was a tiring day and now I have a headache. Excusez-moi.

Oh dear oatmeal, give me strength for thesis!

Jipan

First time to eat there! I actually just ate miso soup and melon bread because I ate chilled taho. The place was nice and the bread selection was so pretty to look at. (didn't bring a camera so no pictures of that huhu) Instead.....!

Stew Pot, why u so yummy?
(kinda looks like something you would see in cafe world haha!)

Bonchon chicken had a really long line but it was okay because I discovered this nice place. Will definitely go back!

Book Sale

Book Sales always entice the book nerd in me so when I see one I always go and check the books up for sale. Generally, I try to limit myself to 1-2 books because 1. it's cheap, there's a huge margin to splurge. haha! and 2. there's a lot going on in life, there's really not much time to get cozy and read a book.

So this time, it was National Bookstore's fault! Haha. I'm reading (or rather, procrastinating) Pride and Prejudice now and which I probably won't be able to finish since it's due on Friday (and I've had the book for like, more than a month already). Good thing the books I bought weren't meant to be read like a storybook.

Russian dictionary and a Japanese How-To guide for work clothes (which I absolutely have no need for and only bought for the sake of reading Japanese. Haha!). I might go and restart my learning the Russian language (on top of learning Japanese and Korean) if I'm not so lazy. All in all, it was only Php 135. Woohoo!

Anyway, I'm planning to take the Japanese Proficiency Test soon so I gotta study looooots.

A Pig's Life

Yeah, so I've been sick the past few days and it's the first time I felt how being sick really was. My eyes hurt, I had nose pain (or whatever that's called that makes breathing hurt) and my cough of 2 days got worse.

I didn't go to school for three days and I've been living the life of a pig instead! Eat + Sleep! Haha. Hopefully my eyes feel better by monday or else I'd be too lazy to go to school again. Boo.

Leftovers from medicine overload.

PS. Sorry Jegs! Guilty ako sa text mo haha. Tetext dapat kita through chikka per for some reason, 'di daw pwede yung carrier ng number mo.

3-minute Attention Span

During chemistry class today I discovered I have a 3-minute attention span. Haha. After the quiz, I looked at my watch and it said, 12: 03. After a while, I checked again and it said, 12:06.

Then 12:09... 12:12...

I didn't bother checking again for I knew it would only be 12:15 and class wasn't over 'till 12:20. :))

Super (unhealthy) Diet Day

I only ate three unhealthy ham slices (one for each meal), a scrambled egg (cut into three) and three pieces of pandesal (one for each meal also). And for some reason, it feels okay and I don't feel hungry easily.

Maybe because my wallpaper is of a bagel with cream cheese? :P Haha!

9 ways to make yourself happy

Fake it ‘til you feel it. Research shows that even an artificially induced smile boosts your mood. And if you’re smiling, other people will perceive you as being friendlier and more approachable.

Got me laughing for a good two minutes. It works! Haha!

Konad!

My first Konad stuff! Finally!

M77 plate and a stamp and scraper

I didn't want to buy the special polish since my current polishes might work but, ugh, it didn't. I used the Etude House Nail Art Pen polish because it's a bit thicker but boohoo, the design didn't transfer onto the stamp. I might go and buy the polish specifically used for stamping. Anyway, I got tired of trying it so I was only able to stamp two fingernails on each hand.

And here's my over-accessorized nails.

Can't wait to actually get a nice thick polish for stamping, woot!

May 28 2011 Dream

I was at my house and my mom and history teacher were there (lol, probably because I saw him at Shangri-la yesterday). Anyway, I was doing something when I said that...

"I should have studied journalism so that I can make reviews for Korean dramas, since that's the only thing I like to do (watching korean dramas)."

If I had this dream before going to college, I might consider. :P

PS. It's true what Karl Lagerfeld said about dreaming of clothes. I mean, he dreamt of an entire collection. (Whoa.) Anyway, I'll try to draw the one I dreamed of. Wheee!

Wavy Waves

Screw my old post about liking the fringed, super straight long hair because I am totally in love (again!) with this hairstyle. I swear I'm going to try it out once my hair is long enough for anything.

The hairstyle on the beautiful Melissa George
Photos from melissa-george.com

Saw this again while watching Alias (for the nth time!) and it really never gets old. Coincidentally, I found a similar style on net-a-porter's new magazine today. Coincidence? Is it the trend? I'm not sure.

Although this one has a lot more waves and big curls than I would like.

Anyway, I love it!

Banchetto

Can't believe this place is right where I take my violin lessons. Kaya pala they always clean the street when I get there.

Let them eat cake!

I broke my record of not eating any cake (months and months, I think) today when my Mom offered what she called ensaymada (which was actually more cake-like and tasted like one too) with cheese. I didn't particularly enjoy the taste, it was just okay, so it was kind of a waste.

Anyway, all to make her happy, right? Happy Mother's Day!

Google Photo

PS. The new Google makes me so sleepy. Everything's so light-colored. Urgh.

Bum + Bond

Bum + Bond is the recipe of the week as I'm just so lazy these days: Heat = Lazy = No Energy. Boo.

Just now, I rewatched Casino Royale and I just can't help not searching for that place where Bond gets hospitalized. It's really so beautiful. It's actually a villa called Villa del Balbianello in the beautiful Lake Como located in Italy.

What's interesting is that I found it through a website called James Bond Lifestyle. It lists everything, and I mean, EVERYTHING (Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating) that you can get your hands on from the Bond movies.

I got in on the hype of James Bond and so of course, I got pretty excited. Sometimes I just wish I lived in Bond's world. It'd be cool then, to see him drive off in a shiny Aston Martin. Haha!

If you love James Bond and have some time on your hands, go check it out. :)

Burgers

From now on I'll be saving half of my allowance everyday thanks to an article that told me I'd be a millionaire if I start now and save enough. By some time I'll be a millionaire so I can buy this!:

Burger bed by Kayla Kromer!

No, joke. But maybe Juno's burger phone will do.

Heehee.

2011 is really a year for new things. I've done so much already and it's only been 4 months into the year!

Saturday, April 23, 2011

I've never really liked shopping with my Mom but this time it was really annoying. It's like WTF annoying. Hmph. I ended up not buying anything.

On the bright side, I found these lovely Gibi shoes that I will buy once the sale* starts next week (and plus I'll be alone haha). Yipee!

*3-day sale at Megamall: April 29 - May 1 until 11 PM.

Biking

After riding my bike with training wheels for 5 minutes, naturally, it would bend up. I really am so heavy. (huhu) Anyway, I really don't want to waste money on having it fixed again so I went and tried to ride it. Fortunately, I was able to after an hour or so. After numerous skid marks, dirt on my legs and even an injury, finally, I know how to ride a bike!

Here's to getting thin this summer!

If I knew I'd be able to learn it in an hour or so, sana hindi ko nalang pinalanggyan. Super sayang money!

Finally Final

I finally finalized (is it legal to precede finalized with finally? haha) my summer schedule and I'll be starting with this schedule tomorrow. After making summer schedules for years, I think this year's the most eventful of them all. (Or maybe not, since violin practice appears 3 times :P)

time activity
9– 915am wake up
915-930am breakfast
930 – 10am violin bow
10-11am violin
11-12nn bike
12-1230pm lunch
1230-115pm bath
115-230pm japanese
230-330pm violin
330-530pm internet
530-630pm violin
630-700pm dinner
7pm+ any
12 AM sleep

Hope I can wake up at exactly 9AM! Haha.

Etude House haul

I went on an Etude House spree last week to finally get a Pink Membership Card. Yipee!

Polish, nail stickers, french tip guides and stones

So I bought the Miss Tangerine nail set. It comes with three bottles: a base polish and two glitter coats.
The style is supposed to be the gradient-glittery style (which I did before with a pink base and silver glitters)
Not mine. Just got it off from google.

Anyway, as I was so excited, I just used the brush that comes with the bottle to apply the polish so the design looks off. I'll go and do it the right way next time when I'm not lazy (haha, my sponges have been untouched in the cabinet for far too long)

Base with first glitter coat

Final

The lack of nail length sucks but it'll have to do.

Orange and Green Tea

Currently obsessed with the colors orange and matcha green tea.

Colors don't match but it's kind of like this shade haha

Aside from my plan to buy all things orange and matcha tea, I will probably do a revamp on this blog to make it matcha-licious. Woohoo!

Wednesday, April 13, 2011

I knew this wasn't really going to be a good day.

I went out to shop in Makati with my cousin (who happened to have her card eaten by the machine) so naturally,  I'd pay for everything we did. Bollocks to this really.

Now I just found out I failed calculus.

Gray or Blue?

Discovered this song years ago through the short film above, "How To Say I Love You".

I feel so helpless now, my guitar is not around
And I'm struggling with the xylophone to make these feelings sound
And I'm remembering you singing and bringing you to life
And It's raining out the window and today it looks like night
You haven't written to me in a week I'm wondering why that is
Are you too nervous to be lovers, friendships ruined with just one kiss
I watched you very closely I saw you look away
Your eyes are either gray or blue I'm never close enough to say
But your sweatshirt says it all with the hood over your face
I can't keep staring at your mouth without wondering how it tastes
I'm with another boy; he's asleep, I'm wide awake
And he tried to win my heart, but it's taken time
I know the shape of your hands because I watch them when you talk
And I know the shape of your body 'cause I watch it when you walk
And I want to know it all but I'm giving you the lead
So go on, go on and take it, don't fake it, shake it
Don't second guess your feelings you were right from the start
And I notice she's your lover, but she's nowhere near your heart
This city is for strangers, like the sky is for the stars
But I think it's very dangerous if we do not take whats ours
And I'm winning you with words because I have no other way
I'd love to look into your face without your eyes turning away
Last night I watched you sing because a person has to try
And I walked home in the rain because a person cannot lie

Friday, April 8, 2011

It's sad to know that a lot of times the person you like won't really like you back.
Although it's wasted effort to work hard and impress, the inspiration helps in other areas of life (like school!).

Simple yet fun day

With just an hour of sleep, I woke and went to school at 9AM to pass our project only to find out that the next available demo slot would be at 4PM.

So I bummed at the nook.
Twitter, FB, Tumblr, allkpop... you name it. I even got to cleaning my school email inbox.
And thanks to Alfred for the Assassin's Creed entertainment. Haha!

Anyway, Murphy came and invited me to come with Alfred and Kristian to a meeting with Computer Science orgs of other universities (at Katipunan!). Had a fun ride in the car.

After that, we went back to school, arriving at exactly 4PM (whew!). The demo was smooth (and incredibly fast). After which I finally went home.

So now I'm going to watch some anime, practice my violin a little later and finally get some good sleep. Can't wait for the org turnover tomorrow!

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Just spent 7 hours looking for answers to questions I dont think I will be able to answer anyway justifies the phrase "try and try until you die".

It's a slow and painful death.

And I've only just realized I missed an exam today.

I thought it was tuesday. When it was really wednesday. Dunno why I thought it was tuesday when I had calculus class yesterday. Now I can't believe it's actually thursday tomorrow. It's like I flew over countries and next thing I know I already missed a day. Now I know how that feels. I'm still allovertheplace. Can't believe it's thursday tomorrow. Writing down things on a planner is useless when I can't even recognize the difference of 6 and 7, wednesday and a thursday.

Food

I told myself I would stop eating in the middle of the night but just can't resist focaccia.
(Yeah, I did heat it up like this. haha.)

With milk of course! Drinking straight from the liter pack since I'm such a gluttonous creature.

Great night!
