The Golden Ass

Whenever I read information on the Internet, it's really no surprise when I start reading about anime and then star systems the next. For some reason, I found myself reading about greek and roman mythology -- again. I stumbled upon a link to this book called The Golden Ass. I thought it was funny so I clicked on it.

On the page, it said that the main protagonist turned himself into an ass.

An ass.

HAHA. Funniest information ever. I immediately thought of those butts in Cow and Chicken. When I hovered over the word 'ass', it pointed to a page about donkeys.

I didn't know donkeys were also called ass. What?!

It would be wildly inappropriate if Donkey was named Ass. :))

Holiday "Cherries"

Mistletoe turned Cherry. I need a striper.

HP Mania

I'm slowly getting back into my old Harry Potter obsession because of this advent calendar that I'm doing. Not only am I rereading the books, I'm also listening to chapter-by-chapter podcasts, re-reading Pottermore content and actually playing Pottermore again.

I had to dig out my old Harry Potter books and I am so happy to see them complete and together at last! I got Book 2 around a year before the first movie came out.

So far, these are all the Harry Potter books I have. I'm missing my copy of the 'Quidditch Through the Ages'. I'll go find it soon. The book I do not have is 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' so I hope to get that for Christmas.

OR THIS!

I recently saw this in the bookstore and I went crazy. It has actual props!!! I think I might really go buy this with 'Fantastic Beasts' and this other book:

Talk about crazy merch hoarding.

I've only had one Harry Potter shirt with a Quidditch logo on the front. I've had costumes made of course but I can't wear those out, obviously. Anyway, I've been looking around local shops that might have this but so far, no luck.

Thanks to Christmas traditions and advent calendars for you have revived my love for all things Harry Potter!
Always.

Firsts

I've always been a lip-balm-for-chapped-lips girl and never ventured into any face coloring makeup until recently. I am getting quite obsessed with searching for the perfect pink or perfect red lip. And with that comes my very first lipstick purchase ever!

(insert grown up moment)

This color wasn't my first choice, really. They didn't have what I wanted so I went with this, my second choice!

It's a very very pretty true red. It has a nice matte finish which doesn't feel dry at all.

(excuse the zombie eye bags)

There it is. Not the most flattering on my face but I love it!

Now I want a pink one, a coral one, an orange one... tralalalala!

P.S. Got this on sale at Watson's. I believe the sale is until tomorrow, Nov. 18, 2012.

Honey bee

I just washed my face with honey. I hope the ants won't eat my face tonight.

It's June!

Busy, busy life for the past few weeks. Never had time for anything leisurely other than watching Vampire Diaries. I'm trying to catch up so I can be ready for Season 4 this September. Hopefully, I'll finish all 3 seasons.

He is a bit like Edward Cullen in speaking, hairstyle and wardrobe.

After that I'll watch True Blood. Horror drama marathon in the coming months!

A few days ago my Mom surprised me with a gift. I was even a bit annoyed at first (she bought me sandals) because why would someone else buy shoes for you that you haven't tried on? (I guess you'll be more happy if it fits!) Turns out she bought me those sandals I've been keeping an eye on for almost a year (it was finally on sale!). She didn't need me there because I've tried it on so many times already. Haha!

One of the happiest moments of my life! I can't wait to wear it!

In nail news, I've been keeping my nails clean and clear (nyerk) for the past weeks. I have a few nail art designs to try out but there's not enough time to do it. I finally settled on using nail stickers and go for a simple and easy look.

Not even a peach base coat or something. Super rush nail art haha

I'm so happy it's a long weekend. I can read my books, practice math and relax a bit before work and school starts again. Whee!

Building blocks

My degree says I should be a designer but right now I feel I don't deserve to be one.

#rant #writersblock

Need to find something to un-writer's block my brain.

Events

I made sure to be more aware of what's happening around the city so as not to miss anything I would have liked to see. I'll make this year the events year and these are some of the events I'll be going to in the next months.

Jayeslee concert in June
Barber of Seville in July
Cirque du Soleil and Phantom of the Opera in August

And like the opening intro of The Apprentice... (i need) money money money money... mooooney! Hahaha!

A Review on Van Gogh's Au Charbonnage

Today's artwork review is one of Vincent Van Gogh's earlier artworks called the Au Charbonnage. It was made in 1878 on paper and made with only pencil and brown ink. According to Vincent Van Gogh, he made this because he sees a lot of workers meeting here during their free time and just relax, eat and drink.

My fondness for old looking things makes me like this artwork even without knowing of its history. This place looks so cozy and I think part of it is emphasized even more with the use of brown and the pencil shades. It kind of feels like walking up to the place itself and thinking of finally being able to relax despite the hard work done at the mines. I am glad that Vincent Van Gogh sends letters to his brother talking about his artwork because although art is supposed to be interpreted by the viewer, it is still better to know how the first viewer (the artist) saw it. Although this place is not in Paris, it reminds me of the night cafe culture that can be seen in the many many streets in Paris.

Banana Chocolate Pancakes

My take on Marc's Mango Chocolate Pancakes (but with Bananas)

Looks messy but it was good.

Instead of Nutella, I melted 4 squares of Vochelle dark chocolate in the microwave, placed it in the middle of the two pancake pieces and placed bananas in there as well.

Yummmmmeh!

First Lush

I've been reading and watching a lot about Lush products and wanted to try it out. Most of the reviews were positive but since I have troubled skin, I had a bit of doubt.

Anyway, I just went for it and bought my first block of Lush soap.

It's called Porridge and it has oatmeal in it. So far it's been good (smelling like oatmeal is a plus too, haha). The lady at the store said it will help lighten hyperpigmentation so I'm hoping it does its job.

New Hair

Have this for almost a week now. I think bangs suit me better than without it.

Museum Archivist

Most of my degree mates know that I wanted to be a librarian. It all started when I saw The Mummy and completely fell in love with Rachel Weisz's character, Evelyn. She was a librarian and I thought she was very cool. I wanted to be like her but since I'm a 'go with the flow' person, I'm now finishing a degree my father chose for me.

Recently I've been looking at the UP library science degree and can't help to think that maybe it's time to pursue this. I was also looking at the kinds of jobs a library science degree holder can have. One of them was to become an archivist. I instantly wondered if there were archivists at the Louvre. (They probably have, it's such a famous museum.)

Museum + France + library science = ....?

Then a cray idea hit me. After I go finish my master's degree, practice for a bit and then move to Paris as a museum archivist. Then study french at the same time. Whew, I'd be happy to just be living a life like that.

I'm a 'go with the flow' type of person so if life gives me a chance, I would:
1. get a master's degree in library science
2. move to paris
3. study french (with korean and japanese on the side)
4. become a museum archivist

Oh la la watta daydreamer! =))

Nail Dangle?!

What in the world...

I love nail art but I don't think I'll be able to drill a hole on my nail just to hang decoration.

Coral

I've started to get obsessed with the color Coral for the past few days now. Just in time for summer!

I hope to be able to buy those coral-colored sandals that I've been eyeing for a year now. Hopefully it goes on sale soon.

In the meantime, I shall satisfy my coral-craving eyes with this Proenza Schouler coral satchel. Love it!

Home Made Salad

I love Wendy's chicken ceasar salad so I've tried doing it homemade before but the taste was a total fail. Today I'm glad it's a little bit better. I vow to eat more healthy food during the day to compensate for the colossal bowl of milo cereal I ate as a midnight snack last night. Haha.

It ain't as healthy though, the chicken was fried.

Chewable toothbrush?!

Just don't forget not to swallow it after, I guess.

Leopard Nails

It's been a month since I've been letting my nails rest from nail polish but now it's time to have it back!

I wanted grey but I didn't have grey so I mixed black and white and applied it onto my nails using a sponge.

It was messy and some bits of sponge went to my nails. But all's good...

...after cleaning it! Kinda smooth-ish now.

Actually I wanted to do newspaper nails that's why I painted them grey but I couldn't get the newspaper design onto my nails. FAIL.
Ain't that awesome?

But anyway, I decided to just draw leopard prints!
And that's why I have grey-colored leopard nails. It doesn't look as nice as the ones I see from tutorials but it's pretty okay, I guess.

Macaroni & Cheese

For lack of interesting things to eat from the fridge, I decided to finally cook this boxed Macaroni & Cheese I had.
It's an easy 3-step process: Boil, Drain and Mix (cheese powder + milk + butter).

And this is how it looks like!

I got the spirals one so maybe that's why it kind of looks like sticky Java rice. First impression was it tasted really cheesy. Then about halfway through I felt I couldn't finish it. Nakakaumay. Especially now that it has gone cold and the gooey stuff made them stick together in blobs. Blegh. I'm seriously just pushing myself to eat it right now. I've been downing lots of apple juice in between to try and make it a little bit better but I think I'll just have to keep the rest for later.

2/5 stars

Glamorous

This morning, my professor told us that having a certification was not as glamorous as having a degree. Yeah well, it certainly was hard work to become glamorous.

Resolutions

It's been a while since I made resolutions to do because I can't really keep them. Although that's the case, I'm determined to do these now. So, here they are:

a. Read at least 10 12 books

Need to finish Little Women, Currently reading Brida

I did 4 books in 2011 (or 4.5 because I didn't finish the other one, the book I borrowed was incomplete!). 3 of them finished in 3 days (but I had a lot of time then) so this year, I'm going for just 10 12. I discovered goodreads.com so that's where I'll look. I like Jane Austen books, stuff like the Hunger Games and Harry Potter and maybe some Goosebumps choose-your-adventure fun. Any good books to recommend?

Edit: 1 for every month, right?

b. Try all the drinks in Happy Lemon

Preferably once a week so I don't overload on the sugar and calories. Now I can't do the diet thing because of this.

c. Ride my bike at least once a week

Poor looking bike among the old things

Since I can't diet, I'll just do some biking on the weekend. I learned how to balance but I don't know if I can still do it. Wish me luck!
